Day 10- 3rd day of the tournament

Today was another rugby day. Today was a very tough rugby day. Earl Marriott had to play a team from England and they are very strong and very BIG! Their school is called Hartpury College and, other than the school subjects, their main focus is rugby. They have kids come from all over England and Wales to play rugby and go to school.

Our coach knew that there was no way we could beat this team so he decided to rest some of the stronger and older players for our game tomorrow (the boys are in grade 11 and 12). During each game, it is the tournament rules that five players do not get to wear a uniform and play. Only 25 players can be listed to play each game. So with 5 strong players resting it was even harder to score against the team from England.

Well, the final result was not pretty...England scored a lot of tries and EMS did not score any! But that is okay, because even though we could not score, our boys tried their hardest, and at the end, they were really good sports!!! We were so proud of them!!!

I am helping a group of toddlers down all the steps at the train station. They were so cute but a bit shy about a stranger helping them. This little girl was such a trooper...she just kept going down all those stairs with her tiny little legs.

Here is an example of the size difference between the teams!

Another example. Nick is wearing the #8 jersey and he is lifting Arun up during a line-out. Nick is one of our larger guys and look how small he is compared to the England player beside him. Also, notice how high they could get their guy in the line-out!

 Nick doing a big tackle.

 #2 was a giant!

Nick at half time listening to the coach.
Again, look at how big the England guys are!! Yikes!!

The team from England after the game. Some of them are wearing their new Earl Marriott t-shirts. Everyone loves these shirts!

Our team after the game against Hartpury College.

 Having lunch after the game.

This was lunch...plus sandwiches and drinks.

One of the England players wearing his new shirt!

They were having a little plant sale up near the little store. I wish I could bring some of these home for my garden. The beautiful little plants were only 50 Yen each. If I had 500 Yen, how many could I buy? If I had 1250 Yen, how many could I buy? Send me your answers!

The flags of all the countries represented at the tournament. Can you find the Canadian flag?
Can you name all the flags from left to right...send me your answers!

Nick and his buddy, Gerad, after the game. They are all cleaned and showered! Not so stinky now!

More England players with EMS t-shirts.

Japanese player with an EMS t-shirt.
It is so cool to think that these t-shirts will be all over the world when the tournament is finished!

Me, pretending to be a rugby player.

Good thing his mom was here to fix his owie!
There are now 7 EMS parents in Japan to cheer on our boys!

Nick chatting with his dad after the game.

Don pretending to be a rugby player...he used to play a lot of rugby, but not anymore.

I love this guy! And I am so proud of him!
