Day 13-5th day of the tournament

Our trip is quickly coming to an end but there are still 2 rugby games to cheer on the Earl Marriott Mariners. It was an earlier start to get to the field today.
 The Hakata train station.
Some beautiful ladies getting ready to perform on the stage for the Golden Week celebrations. There were acts going on all day today. There were people dressed in a variety of costumes.

I know that I could take Don in a samurai battle.
With all the people who have come to the city for the Golden Week celebrations, there were a lot more police and security people around to make sure everyone was safe and the human traffic was moving easily.
Even in a very busy crowd, I could always find Don. It was kind of like playing "Where's Waldo?"

This is what a lot of the sushi looked like...there are no California rolls here!

My friend, Eun Hee, sneaking in on the photo of Don eating sushi while waiting for the train.

Here are all of the Canadian fans on the train heading to the game!

 The Dad fans!

My new friend, Karina, from New Zealand. We first met in Tokyo when we were visiting the Imperial Palace gardens. I noticed her rugby jacket and we started talking and found out that we were both in Japan to watch our sons play in the same rugby tournament. We seemed to travel together with the New Zealand parents on the train and shuttle bus.
 The Canadians and Kiwis together.
Do you know what a kiwi is? Be sure to send me your answers.

This was so funny...while we were waiting for the shuttle bus, we noticed this taxi driver waiting for a fare (someone to drive) and he was just sitting in his car and staring at the garden. I wonder if he saw anything growing.

Heading to the game.

Today's game was against a team from a city in Japan called Ibaraki.
Ibaraki is the area just to the north and east of Tokyo.

Trying to run with the ball.

 Relaxing at half time...

 They win another game!!!!

 Yeah!!! Thomas is very excited!

 Debriefing after the game

Today's results...can you follow the red line to show how Earl Marriott has done?

 Silly dads!!

Our friend, Tino, pretending that he is stuck on the train as it leaves the station.

We met this furry little guy in a market. A man told us that he represents happiness.

We went for dinner to a restaurant that serves a dish called Okonomiyaki. Okonomiyaki is also called a Japanese pancake. It is made by mixing cabbage, flour and water together and cooking it on a hot grill. Then the cook adds some ingredients to the top (eg. egg, cheese, meat, fish or vegetables) and then another layer of cabbage mixture. It is cooked and flipped over, and cooked some more until it is nice and crispy...it is very yummy!
