The Tokyo Subway

This is the big hill that we have to climb everyday to get back to our hotel from the subway.
The sign for our subway line

Some of the stairs that we had to climb to get to and from each subway line.
One of the long walks we had to make to go from one subway line to another.
A train arriving.
Our subway station.
One of the crazy maps showing all the stops on the Yurakucho line (the one our stop is on).
A quiet ride...not too many people.
Waiting for the train...this was mid-morning so it wasn't too busy because most people are already at work. It was much busier at about 8pm when we were coming home from sightseeing. Almost everyone on the subway in Tokyo is going or coming from work and most of them wear black suits and carry briefcases...including the woman. So, when you look down the train, all you see are black suits!

Today it was raining so almost everyone carried an umbrella as well. They sell umbrellas everywhere, even corner stores. You can get a clear umbrella for about $4 so I think that man people only use them a few times and then buy another one. I even saw a lady riding her bike while carrying an umbrella. In many places they have umbrella stands where you lock up your umbrella while you are inside shopping, eating or working!
Umbrella parking!

A subway train whizzing by!
Finally, an escalator instead of stairs!
